The perils of being yourself

One of the big bad facts of life is - nobody likes you. They tell us in the after school specials and memes across the world wide internet that we should just be who we are and let the chips fall where they may. Not a shred of truth in it. Who we are is a mess.

We monitor what we say and do, we look to others for correct responses. We know that if we say what's really on our minds that it would be hurtful and mean. We don't really give a shit how your day went, and we sure don't give a fuck if you have a nice day once you're out of eyesight. We bless people for sneezing when we're disgusted by the germs they've just spewed into our air space. We thank them what doing what we secretly consider to be their PURPOSE in life. You bagged my groceries? Good, it's your fucking JOB, ain't it? Our pleases are in truth 'gimmees' and our thank you's are 'about damned time's'.

I've asked people what the one thing they liked most about me was, and they usually say my almost diabolical skills at blow jobs, but a close second is my honesty. There is the problem. If for some reason you don't like me and have gotten out of my way to go do your own thing, consider yourself lucky. The me you don't like is only a tenth of the ME I am, and you SURE wouldn't like that one. So many times, I have to pause and come up with something way nicer to say to people and while I can come up with four or five horrible ones I usually try the most polite way.

People have said I have no filter but I do have them. I take the way I truly feel about things and run it under the flow of sunlight and rainbows that is the paragon of decency. Sometimes the fuck you doesn't wash off all the way. That's when people get upset with me. I know how grimy the sugar-water gets after I've cleaned my thoughts and put them out there. I'm me. There are times when even I'm amazed at how much bile is spewed, how much venom my words can drip, and I have my own reactions to it. Sometimes I shudder when I think of what I could have said or done. Sometimes I laugh and think they really do have this coming. It's that filter I keep in place that lessens the blow.

STEPPING UP

I was having a dream about the zombie apocalypse (I always have to spell check the word even though I use it so much, lol) and while it wasn't blood and gore, it was telling the story of three people. It started from the beginning and focused on their own personal journey of right and wrong, what they would do when faced with certain situations and at what point does a child, a teen, and a man move up to the next stage in their development as a HUMAN being. If it isn't a tv series, it should be a movie :) I lit it beautifully and casted shadows in all the right places. It made me feel for the people involved although I didn't know them. We all have to go through points where we have to make decisions that are beyond us. How we deal with them, how we step up - almost literally STEPPING UP - makes us grow and connect and become better than we are. In our own ways, we are all heroes.

Late at night when it's too quiet, I listen to the voices. Nagging, digging, poisonous. Riotous and disquieting images are frightening and they lead me to bad choices. All the sins of the past burning a hole in my soul, tearing a part from my heart. I try to leave it to the side and carry on, but damage done, nowhere to run when the demons are already inside. Nowhere to hide when the chemicals you create can seal your fate. Medicate and become a drone? No, my soul is my own, even if perfectly flawed and beautifully broken. Each word, each picture created a token to be left in my wake when my life is at stake. Seeking forgiveness for crimes never committed, doomed to hell and never acquitted. An unrequited love burning, still yearning. The sentence being twenty years, the cause of this leading to all my fears that I will not see the end. No chance to amend or undo. No hope to connect and renew. With no moral compass, I'm just spinning as the chances of winning are undone. Battles may be lost but the war is never won. I relinquished hope to keep sanity. My narcissism and vanity are a sham, to keep the emotional tide behind a dam. Reinvention of self and purpose fading, doubt creeping and pervading. This time the question is Me: To be or not to be.

As much as I appreciate the work being thrown at me lately, the opportunities being handed to me and the CREATIVE VISION being gifted to me by the world, I'm truly considering retirement.

Retirement from what? You know, I can't answer that since I've always been unclear on what my 'job description' was.

My personal thoughts on RS Game Play Etiquette

Have resources for your neighbors. This game is made up of rocks, fiber and wood. It's a fact. You need these items in the very least to be able to craft items to move up in the game. Bonuses from harvesting these are ores and sap. If you get these from a visit from a kingdom, you're always happy. It's what you were most likely looking for. They harvest from you, you also get a bonus. You can get rocks and pine trees for free using humble hearts. Put some out there, it makes people happy.

Visiting. Try to do what is requested on the banner first, but we do understand that there are times when you're looking for the elusive ores and sap. When you're not actively hunting for your own needs, try to help others.

Banners. You can name your kingdom whatever you like. I personally have named it some things that could have gotten me reported. Some people take a banner request as a 'demand' or an 'order'. I can see why. This is the rule I myself try to follow, and I think it makes for a smoother understand of things:

When I am in need of neighbor help on a mission - Harvesting, ferting, etc, I ask for it in the banner.
When I am not in current need of neighbor help, I change the name back to something else. Have fun bashing my rocks and chopping trees :) Just don't kill the minions.

Minions. LMAO, ok - the minions are my pets. I love my minions. They have NAMES. I built a fence around them. Having THREE OF THEM TRAPPED keeps any more from ruining my game play by popping up in the crops and wasting my energy. Charlie, Dave and Tyrone would appreciate a more loving environment for their dance practice, thank you very much.

And there are people who always want HELP but never return the favor. Believe me, there are players that make lists of who helps and who doesn't. Try asking for items or help from them and they WILL ignore you. It's how they play the game, just like you have a right to play the way YOU like. The same goes for people who don't put out resources. You may have beautiful kingdoms, but you could throw a few cheap trees out.

There are going to be people insulted by this, because you can't make everyone happy all of the time. The ones that get upset are the ones most likely to delete me for my viewpoints'. Let me state this. I was a beta tester for the game. I was there BEFORE the game went live. I made the banner for the first group myself. There were people who got along and people who didn't before we ever saw the opening screens. I'm a member of many groups on this subject. I talk to MANY people in groups and inboxes about the game and how they feel it can be played to a certain level of mutual happiness. I know I come out of left field sometimes. I've been a member of some of these groups without ever saying a word. In fact, I kind of dislike when I am welcomed into a new group because I get f/r from people I don't know. I like people, but I only let in a few because my life, my style and my job is not for everyone.

Mostly, I listen. I try to help people but I'd rather just be a lurker, really. It's a lonely job, so I give thanks to the people that ADMIN a group or a page (for no pay, oft times no recognition). The good ones try to encourage people to help each other, work together and keep things running smoothly. They encourage friendships with people from all over the world. They give a hand, or lend an ear to those in need, sometimes reaching out personally to those people. These people are the blessing of what social media is about.

Let's try to work together on making a basic set of etiquette that we can all (or mostly, ugh... some people) agree to. Let's be respectful and appreciative.

  Oh bum...I love cats. We had 14 cats till recently, lol. We fostered kittens from our local vets and fell in love with most of them so kept them, so they added to the cats we had. I have just adopted out 11 of them, now we only have 3. Now I'm not known as the OLD CAT LADY, haha. I don't know how many cats are in a cattery, depends how many people go away on holidays and book their cats in for a stay. We did foster 2 amazing puppies for a few months, hard work, puppies, but they were so cute. I don't have a cattery but if I had a lot of money I would love to build one.
